with how little action this board has with the best thing to happen in the Crowes World since 2005.
Facebook sucks in terms of having in depth conversations, but maybe it's all moved into that space? Maybe this has come too late? I hope not, as they deserved larger venues, and maybe that will come.
If you scroll down below on this board, there was more commentary about boring songs, albums and tours of yesteryear than Rich and Marc working in the studio again for the first time in 20+ years, with all of the glaring warts vanishing in thin air.
While no homeruns for me on this album, there isn't one song that leaves me scratching my head or scouring for reasons to like it. That in itself is a huge win, IMO.
There's no forced and dumbed down BYS, no disjointed and awkward Lions, no horrendous disappointment like Warpaint after years of no albums, and no disappointment of song yield with Before the Frost, and that's not even considering the musicianship factor which was clearly inferior to me that entire time, minus the reunion tour.
It'll be interesting to see how the younger "rock and roll" fan reacts to this, teenagers and those in the their 20s, have very little exposure to real rock and roll the last 20 years, IMO.
You basically have PJ and the Foo Fighters leading the way, and that hasn't excited me at all now in my 40s, as those bands recycle the same thing over and over.
Good review, though.
