I think they did a great job and I’m looking forward to part 2. Great cover art too!

I liked the original, mostly cover, album a whole lot and was wary that they could pull off an entire album of originals, but they did (and apparently have a second ready to go). Score!

I can’t say I dislike any song, which is so the opposite of CRB material where each release is like pulling a single true gem from a pile an otherwise oversynthed, faux-rockabilly, pseudo ballad, jammy, failing-at-wanna-be-Dylan garbage. This - Magpie - is solid throughout, and I think every song has grown on me. I’d have given it a B+ upon first listen, but I think it’s crept up to an A since.

The Ford fills and responses really make such a difference. Hogg is great. All of the song structures and basic riffs are excellent. The lyrics are real yet somewhat mystical. The backing vocals are great additions when they show up (and are not overused)... and there’s no oven mitts, no whiny-croony-mid 50s CR trying to over milk expressiveness, and no pointless imagery. What’s not to love?!

My only complaint is the band name. I with they had called it “Blood Brothers” or “No Oven Mitts”.
